Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Alan Brazil revealed on his breakfast show for talkSPORT that he cannot see Hugo Lloris leaving the club.
“I look at Lloris and I just can’t see him leaving – not for a Premier League side,” he said.
Lloris does enjoy undoubted number one status at White Hart Lane and is a key leader in the team under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Manchester United by the Daily Telegraph, but the club’s chairman Daniel Levy has played down the possibility that he will join a Premier League rival.
Tottenham have Champions League aspirations of their own and they have a better chance of getting into the top four if they keep their best players, avoiding making their rivals stronger.
A move outside of England is still possible if the situation becomes untenable for the player and the club, but Spurs need to try and keep Lloris in their first team and to keep him happy.
As things stand, there hasn’t been too much pressure from United because David De Gea hasn’t yet moved to Real Madrid, as the Daily Mail predicts.
If the Spaniard officially leaves Old Trafford, United could start throwing big bids at Tottenham and that will then be the big test as the club will have to resist the carrot being dangled.
