Reported Spurs target Giannelli Imbula is French top-flight’s best dribbler

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for Giannelli Imbula.

According to a report in The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have picked out Marseille’s Giannelli Imbula as their number one summer transfer target. And The Sun aren't the only ones saying so.

The 22-year-old star was a key player for the popular French outfit last season, showcasing his ability to perform at a high level with 37 appearances.

And, as per the report, Spurs are said to have already made an £18 million bid - and are willing to use fringe players Etienne Capoue and Benjamin Stambouli as makeweights to land their man.

Imbula is primarily a defensive midfielder but, should he arrive at White Hart Lane this summer, the Spurs faithful can look forward to another aspect of his game which left French onlookers dazzled.

Indeed, aside from those tough tackles and aerial battles, the French U21 international also rather remarkably completed the most amount of take-ons over the course of the league campaign.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has two exciting midfield prospects in Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason, though Imbula without doubt adds a different dynamic and a little more oomph.

However, if the North Londoners wish to get their man, they will need to be extremely convincing as fresh reports in the Spanish paper Superdeporte claim the player has his heart set on a move to Valencia.
