Tottenham Hotspur will look to sign Asmir Begovic from Stoke City if they lose Hugo Lloris this summer, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported by the British newspaper that Manchester United are interested in France international goalkeeper Lloris.
“Pochettino also looks certain to lose goalkeeper Hugo Lloris,” states the report in The Mirror. “He has stopped short of asking for a move but has told Pochettino he wants to play Champions League football.
“That has alerted Manchester United who will have to replace Real Madrid-bound David de Gea. A leading candidate to replace Lloris will be Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.”
Would Asmir Begovic be a suitable replacement for Hugo Lloris?
Lloris is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and arguably the only world-class player in the current Tottenham squad.
Replacing the 28-year-old is not going to be easy, but Stoke’s Begovic is a capable candidate to fill the Frenchman’s shoes.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international has been on the books of the Potters since 2010 and is one of their best players.
Begovic enjoyed a strong 2014-15 campaign, keeping seven clean sheets in 35 Premier League appearances.
The former Portsmouth star made on average 1.77 saves per game and 1.44 saves per goal in 2014-15.
