According to recent reports in The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are among the frontrunners to sign highly-rated Burnley right-back Kieran Trippier.
Following the Clarets’ relegation to the Championship, a whole host of Premier League clubs will see Tripper as an ideal signing due to his £3.5 million release clause.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino appears keen on strengthening his defence, arguably as a result of their leaky backline hindering their chances of a top four spot last season.
England international Kyle Walker is the club’s number one right-back, but in his absence through injury the Lillywhites struggled for options with Eric Dier often being filling in.

Not only would Trippier provide excellent strength in depth, as per the table provided by Opta Stats he also has a number of attributes which represent an improvement to the first-team.
The former England U21 international compared well with Walker from a defensive perspective, averaging more clearances, aerial duel winners and ball recoveries per Premier League match.
However, the most telling difference between the two is Trippier’s ability going forward - his average of 1.68 key passes and 2.39 accurate crosses per match make him the England’s most creative right-back.
It’s an area where Walker has struggled in the past in spite of his renowned speed, and one where striker Harry Kane can become a great beneficiary from such pinpoint accuracy in crosses from wide areas.
At £3.5m, the 24-year-old Burnley crowd pleaser is without doubt one of the biggest bargains out there and Spurs would be wise to do all they can to convince him to move to White Hart Lane.
