Aston Villa's Andreas Weimann to reportedly complete £2.5m Derby switch next week

Could the Aston Villa player soon be pulling on the shirt of Derby County?

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Aston Villa player Andreas Weimann is set to sign for Derby County next week in a £2.5million transfer.

The 23-year-old Austrian played 35 times for Villa last season but managed just four goals and two assists in that time.

In his senior career at Villa Park to date he has featured 129 times, netting 24 times and setting up an additional 14 goals, but it is now being reported that his time at the club is coming to an end.

Weimann has been linked with Championship club Derby for a while but the latest report has now put a timescale on the proposed deal.

Villa manager Tim Sherwood will have a lot of work to do this summer to get his side up to scratch in the hope of really kicking on in his first full season in charge.

But for all the players linked with a potential exit from Villa Park, it is those Sherwood can ultimately bring in that will generate the most excitement…along with hopefully keeping striker Christian Benteke, of course.
