Roma are said to be keen on Arsenal-linked striker Edin Dzeko.
According to the latest reports from Sky Sports Italia, AS Roma have begun preliminary talks with Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko regarding a move to the Italian capital.
The Bosnian international’s time with City looks to be over after failing to establish himself as a first-team regular in a disappointing campaign at the Etihad Stadium last term.
Yet, if the Gunners wish to acquire the 29-year-old as competition for Olivier Giroud, they will have to act quickly as fresh reports claim Roma are making their move for the striker.
“Roma has had his first contacts with player's agents and soon there would be first talks between two clubs. Citizens may ask to include in the negotiation Adem Ljajic, a hypothesis not excluded,” the report states.
Should Manchester City look at Roma midfielder Adem Ljajic?
As part of a deal which would see Dzeko trade Manchester for Rome, highly-rated midfielder Adem Ljajic has been identified as a possible player to head in the opposite direction.
The attacking midfielder can play in a range of positions in the final third and experienced a fine campaign last season, scoring eight Serie A goals in 32 appearances.
City are overloaded in the striker positions but in regards to attacking midfielders, improvements can be made on the likes of Jesus Navas, Stevan Jovetic and even French international Sami Nasri.
James Milner and Scott Sinclair’s exits also create more space to manoeuvre in the transfer market, while Ljajic’s age (23) makes him a viable option for the long-term.
