Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb wants a new contract.
The Algerian midfielder, 20, has emerged in the first team over the last 18 months, playing a key role in Mauricio Pochettino's midfield this past season.
Yet, whilst other youngsters at Tottenham such as Danny Rose, Ryan Mason and Harry Kane have been rewarded for their fine performances with new contracts over the last 12 months, Bentaleb has yet to receive a new deal from chairman Daniel Levy.
Bentaleb has now told The Telegraph that he is frustrated having not been rewarded for his displays this past season, and his future at White Hart Lane is in some doubt after his comments.
Given the development of the young players under Pochettino, Tottenham fans should be somewhat concerned by the prospect of losing their promising midfielder.
Supporters have commented on Bentaleb's future on Here Is The City, with a split of opinions. Some fans believe that Bentaleb should be immediately rewarded with a new contract, whilst others think Levy shouldn't bow down to a player who has had just one good season.
Here are some of the comments from Tottenham fans on Bentaleb's future...
Mark Langton: Of course the lad deserves a new contract but if he wants out then let him go, mercenaries are not welcome at WHL. He is paid what he is worth...end of.
Halabil: Bentaleb puts out his all every time he wears the white shirt and wears his heart on the sleeve more so than any other player I have seen recently in a Spurs shirt. He has played phenomenally well this season. Mason and Kane got their new contracts with higher pay. Bentaleb was equally impressive (if not more than Mason) this season, so why the maltreatment from the club. Levy get this one done now! Bentaleb is a future Spurs Captain in waiting. Do not let this man go!
Pat: Bentaleb deserves to get paid more than Mason, but not Adebayor level stupid pay. I don't know what the issue is here but spurs usually reward the players that achieve their goals.
Zodslaw: He has had 1 good season, give him a pay rise but there has to be some common sense in play.Depending on what he wants and what Levy will pay I am sure there will be a compromise but how can you let a 1 season success dictate wages? I like him but if his demands are unreasonable I would sell him. The grass is not always greener.
Anon: As far as I know he is asking for a contract that matches the money paid to the ''top players''.
If this is the case then he is asking for too much too soon, his passing at times is all over the place, he is caught out of position too often, especially by the long straight ball and he let Koscielny have a free run from a corner whereby the header went straight to Lloris.
He is strong and brave in the tackle and I believe has the potential to be a very good PL player. Top Pay, no not yet, one season of good play (not great) is not enough to get what he wants. If he keeps his demands up let one of the supposed CL clubs who are supposed to have inquired after him have him but at an over the top price.
