Report: Wayne Rooney wants Harry Kane at Manchester United

Defence - Spurs v Chelsea

Manchester United are reportedly interested in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has told manager Louis van Gaal to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that the United captain wants fellow England international Kane to join him at Old Trafford.

“Rooney has told Van Gaal that he is also a huge fan of the 21-year-old - and United are now hoping that a £40million bid will tempt Spurs into selling their prized asset,” states the report in The Sun.

Former Everton man Rooney is an influential figure at United and is trusted by Van Gaal, who has been in charge of the Red Devils since last summer.

The 29-year-old will remain a key player in attack for United next season, and it makes sense for him to ask the Dutch manager to sign someone he is comfortable playing with.

Rooney has worked with Kane at the England national team, and it seems that he has been impressed with his compatriot.

The 21-year-old forward enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2014-15, scoring 21 goals and creating 27 chances in 34 Premier League appearances.
