Report: Southampton eyeing Yohan Cabaye if they fail to land Grzegorz Krychowiak

Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are reportedly interested in former Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

Southampton are “ready” to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Yohan Cabaye if they miss out on Grzegorz Krychowiak of Sevilla, according to The Mirror.

According to the British newspaper, the Saints are looking to sign 25-year-old defensive midfielder Krychowiak as a replacement for France international Morgan Schneiderlin, whose future at St. Mary’s Stadium is claimed to be in doubt.

Ronald Koeman’s side have allegedly made a bid of £9 million for Krychowiak, but it has been rejected by Sevilla, who reportedly want as much as £22m for the Poland international.

It has now been reported by The Mirror that Southampton could make a move for Cabaye if they fail to land the Sevilla star.

Cabaye has been on the books of French giants PSG since 2014, when he moved from Premier League outfit Newcastle United.

The 29-year-old established himself as one of the better central midfielders in England during his time at St. James’ Park, but he has struggled to play regularly for PSG.

With Southampton aiming to challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League next season, Cabaye would be a good addition to Koeman’s side if his compatriot Schneiderlin leaves.

According to The London Evening Standard, London duo Crystal Palace and West Ham United are also interested in the services of Cabaye.
