Report: Leicester interested in Newcastle target James Chester

Hull City’s James Chester is reportedly being targeted by Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Leicester City.

Leicester City are interested in signing James Chester from Hull City this summer, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported by the British newspaper that Leicester manager Nigel Pearson wants a reunion with a player he signed for Hull from Manchester United in January 2011.

However, Hull, who suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the recently concluded 2014-15 season, do not want to sell the Wales international centre-back.

“Hull are highly reluctant to sell but Chester only has one year left on his contract,” states the report in The Daily Mail.

Leicester face competition for the signature of Chester as well, as Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa are all interested in the 26-year-old, claim The Daily Mail.

With the Tigers set to play in the Championship next season, they could eventually have to sell Chester this summer.

After all, one suspects that the defender would himself want to carry on playing in the Premier League.

However, it seems that Hull will not let go of Chester easily. If a number of clubs are interested, then the Tigers are likely to sell the former United player to the highest bidder.
