Could Liverpool bring the once-prolific marksman to Anfield this summer?
The Colombian international was allegedly taking home £260,000-a-week during his loan spell at Manchester United, but considering he scored only four goals in 26 appearances it is unlikely anyone else will gamble on such a considerable weekly outlay.
As a result, it is suggested that Liverpool will balk at such an amount and the only chance Falcao has of moving to the Reds this summer – or Chelsea for that matter – is to accept a sizeable pay-cut.
At 29, and with a serious injury in his recent past, it remains to be seen if Falcao can replicate the form that once saw him regarded as the most effective front-man in Europe, with his record of 72 goals in 87 games for FC Porto and 70 goals in 90 games for Atletico Madrid telling its own story.
While he struggled at United he still showed glimpses of his talent and it is worth noting that he was not given a run of games to prove himself and suffered from niggling injuries in the initial months of the campaign.
Liverpool may have secured the signing of Danny Ings but they still need a world-class striker to really push for a return to the top four next season, and if they can convince a player who has 195 career club goals to date to take a smaller wage, they may just bag themselves a bargain.
