Nathan Oduwa sees Mauricio Pochettino's trust in youth as a potential path to Spurs first-team

Could a young winger be one of the next to break through at Tottenham Hotspur?

Tottenham Hotspur teenager Nathan Oduwa has been speaking to Shoot about the club’s manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss has benefitted from having some very talented young players in his side this season and Oduwa was emphatic in his reply when asked if more academy players are likely to get a chance under the Argentine.

“Definitely,” the 19-year-old said. “You’ve seen with his time at Spurs and at Southampton he really believes in youth.

“This is obviously great for me and I’m more confident that if I keep working hard I’ll get a chance under him.”

Oduwa was speaking following the end of his loan spell at Luton Town, where he featured 11 times.

The speedy teenager has proved to be both a goal-threat and a creator during his time playing for Tottenham’s under-21s and after his temporary stint away from White Hart Lane it would be no surprise to see him sent out to a side in a higher division next season.

With a full campaign of regular first-team football behind him, he can then return to Tottenham and hopefully become another in an increasingly-long line of talented youngsters making waves in North London.
