The Argentine great has had his say on Celtic and their fan-base.
Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been speaking to Shortlist about various things, including how he feels about British football; and the Argentine international reserve special praise for Scottish side Celtic – a club he has previously voiced his appreciation of.
When asked what he liked or disliked about playing English or Scottish teams in Europe, the Barca superstar said, “They are always big games against English clubs, and Celtic is always a pleasure to play at because their fans create one of the most special atmospheres.”
Messi has played against numerous opponents across the world so Celtic’s supporters can take great pride in the fact that they have again been singled out by the 27-year-old.
Celtic have played some memorable matches against Barcelona in recent times, and they clearly stuck in the mind of one of the best footballers ever to play the game.
The next task for the Bhoys is to qualify for the group stages of the elite competition once again, and if they manage that there is the chance Messi could again be on his way to Celtic Park for another special evening in Scotland.
