Could a reported Leeds United target instead be on his way to France?
According to a report from Italian website TMW, alleged Leeds United target Stefano Okaka is now attracting interest from AS Monaco and a deal could be done between the French side and his current club Sampdoria.
A report from Sampnews24.com published last week claimed Leeds were interested in signing the 25-year-old front-man this summer, with Southampton also said to be keen on a deal.
But now it seems the English clubs have competition in the race to sign a player who has scored nine goals and set up an additional seven in 47 matches for Sampdoria.
The Italian international has also played for AS Roma, Brescia and Parma to name a few, while he was once on the books at Fulham.
Leeds have already been linked with a number of new additions following Uwe Rosler’s appointment as the club’s manager, and last week saw a considerable amount of action at Elland Road, with lots of young prospects signing new deals and Charlie Horton and Lee Erwin both moving to the club on permanent deals with Sol Bamba tipped to follow.
Okaka may still follow, but if Monaco really are interested Leeds will have their work cut out to conclude a deal.
