Leeds United do hold an interest in Alvaro Pereira, according to the player's agent.
The agent of Uruguayan international Alvaro Pereira has confirmed Leeds United are currently interested in the player.
The Inter Milan left-back has seemed like an unlikely target for the club, nevertheless their desire to sign Pereira has been widely reported by The Metro, along with many other outlets.
In a fresh interview with Italian website Tuttomercatoweb, Pereira's agent Alfredo Reguira said: "Leeds? It's true of their interest."
Pereira has been on loan with Argentine side Estudiantes, and his agent went onto say his client was open to returning to Europe.
He said: "He is well in La Plata but he is a professional and will evaluate solutions also with European clubs. He would return to Europe willingly."
Reguira confirmed that Estudiantes do have an option on his signature, but they must agree terms with Inter before any progress can be made, and that negotiations are ongoing.
Leeds were linked with Pereira several months ago, and often the interest of a club may have passed, but gets picked up and suggested it is still relevant. Reguira's comments discussing Leeds suggest the Championship side's desire to sign the player remains active.
It still appears to be an uphill task for Leeds to sign the defender, with the price suggested for Pereira as reported by FoxSports claimed to be £3.1 million, money it's uncertain the club have to spend on any individual player, let alone a full-back, a position in which they have quality already, as Charlie Taylor showed last season.
This could be a saga which rumbles on without going anywhere this summer, or Leeds may have more money and ambition than most give the club credit for.
