Liverpool have reportedly agreed a fee with a player who is set to become their fourth summer signing.
The two clubs were said to be haggling over a fee in recent weeks, with Liverpool already having had at least one offer turned down.
The Star have quoted a price of €23 million, roughly £16.6 million, for the 21-year-old.
Brendan Rodgers has certainly set his stall out early in the summer transfer rush, on Friday completing his third transfer of the summer when he brought in Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan on a free transfer.
That arrival followed the earlier acquisitions of England midfielder James Milner and Under-21 star Danny Ings.
The signing of Milner highlighted the Liverpool manager's acknowledgement that a priority this summer is bringing in midfield quality to attempt to replace the departed Steven Gerrard.
The chase for Kovacic has already been ongoing since the final few weeks of the season, with Arsenal also closely linked at one point, much like they were with Milner.
And it looks like the playmaker, who scored 8 times and assisted 5 goals in 44 appearances last season, could be the next deal to cross the line.
