Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp told Kicca what he feels everyone needs to see from Arsenal attacker Theo Walcott next season.
Redknapp is full of admiration for the way the Gunners play and feel it’s time for Walcott to fulfil on the potential he’s always had since he moved to the club.
“I like Arsenal, I like the way they play – We need Walcott to show us now and realise that great potential – He can score and he’s quick as lightning, let’s see him really get on and have a great season for Arsenal,” he said.
Walcott finished last season for Arsenal in great form with a strike in the FA Cup final backing up the hat-trick he scored on the final day of the Premier League season against West Brom.
He stands a great chance of featuring for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger at the start of next season and it will be interesting to see how the boss structures his attack.
Walcott is someone who can really put opposition defences onto the back foot, creating space for others in behind him and he can also cash in when he plays on the shoulder of a defence.
He’s also got the versatility to be able to play down either side of midfield, which gives Wenger more options out wide when other players aren’t available.
It’s most important for Wenger to settle on a role for Walcott and stick to it, only using him in other positions when an injury crisis develops.
If he decides to use him as a striker, that’s something he needs to make clear to the player so he can prepare himself for the fight to get ahead in the pecking order next season.
