Hislop: West Ham will ask for three things from Slaven Bilic

Former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop suggested Slaven Bilic has certain values he'll have to adhere to next season.

Former West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop told talkSPORT he feels Slaven Bilic will be presented with three issues next season as he embarks on life at the club.

Hislop feels any manager in charge of West Ham needs to adhere to a strict set of values and Bilic has the characteristics to fit in well alongside each category.

“West Ham ask for three things; you stay in the Premier League, you compete and you respect their footballing traditions – Bilic knows the important of those traditions and after that it’s no different from any other manager,” he said.

Bilic will definitely be backing himself to keep the team in the Premier League and the aim for next season will be to build on the finish that Sam Allardyce achieved last season.

Bilic is unlikely to have taken the job had he thought that he would be involved in a relegation battle next season.

His feisty and aggressive nature should also ensure that any player who represents a side under him, will definitely be able to compete.

If they don’t, they’re not going to see a great deal of game time under the manager so it’s in the best interests of the players to ensure they give everything they can, alongside Bilic’s determined philosophy.

Bilic’s background as a West Ham player also means he knows all about the traditions and the values of the football club.

He knows how important the club is to supporters in the area and across the South East and he knows what they expect to see from their team, in an era where fans are paying more than ever before to watch their team play.

Hopefully he can make a real difference in every area he gets involved in next season.
