French press claim Arsenal's Abou Diaby is wanted by PSG, medical suggested

About Diaby

Abou Diaby could be in line for a shock move to PSG.

Abou Diaby is being lined up for a shock switch to PSG, report French media outlet But Football Club.

Diaby is to become a free agent at the end of the month when his contract expires, and the Premier League announced this week he is not on the club's retained list, meaning he has not so far been offered a new deal.

The Mail subsequently reported that Diaby will be allowed to train using Arsenal's facilities while he attempts to find a new club.

The French report claims PSG boss Laurent Blanc is a big fan of Diaby's box-to-box ability, and is interesting in signing him as a free agent.

Diaby is still very highly thought of in the country despite his injury woes, scoring a winner in a qualifying match en route to the 2014 World Cup.

The report claims PSG will put Diaby through a 'rigorous' medical examination using 'ultra-modern' equipment provided by their rich Qatari owners, and want to avoid a 'financial fiasco'.

Diaby has spent nine years at Arsenal but been severely limited thanks to a succession of injuries which have wrecked his career.

He is still only 27-years-old, and Arsene Wenger was a staunch supporter of his talent and it will have been through gritted teeth he sanctioned his release.

Whether a club like PSG where Diaby would have a huge uphill task to break into the team is right for the midfielder's chances of bouncing back is another matter - but he has to pass the medical first.
