'Excited' Pedro Obiang sends message to West Ham fans on Twitter

West Ham

The 23-year-old midfielder joined West Ham earlier this week.

Pedro Obiang sent his first message to the West Ham United faithful on Twitter on Thursday afternoon.

The midfielder signed from Sampdoria on a four-year deal earlier this week and supporters are excited about what Obiang can offer the Hammers in the middle of the park. Some have commented that the 23-year-old could form a solid partnership with Cheikhou Kouyate and new coach Slaven Bilic will no doubt look forward to breaking him in (so to speak) at West Ham.

Co-chairman David Gold (after accidentally posting a picture of Angelo Ogbonna when announcing Obiang's signing) also revealed that the midfielder promised to learn the 'Bubbles' song within a month of signing for West Ham.

On Twitter himself, meanwhile, Obiang has said he is 'so excited' to start the next chapter in his career - as a Hammer.

So how will the 23-year-old do in east London? Obiang has represented Spain at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 level and spent five years at Sampdoria. The physicality of the Premier League may prove a challenge for him but there's nothing to stop the new West Ham signing from becoming a Diafra Sakho rather than a Mauro Zarate in terms of his strength and fitness (obviously, he plays in a different position but in terms of success!).
