Tottenham Hotspur coach Ugo Ehiogu told talkSPORT what he feels it’s important fans remember about Harry Kane.
Kane is going to be under real pressure at the start of next season because of the superb way he handled the last campaign, to become Tottenham’s top scorer across all competitions.
Ehiogu has suggested that it’s vital Tottenham make sure he’s in perfect condition before he’s thrown back into their first team, because of the strain and burden he’s going to be under for another ten months.
“The one thing with Harry is that this was his first full season and he’s done exceptionally well – He’s been managed well and has been looked after – He’s got a great work ethic which is the most important thing for me,” he said.
“A lot of kids have ability but he’s get a drive and a definite sense of purpose – We need to make sure he’s in the right condition to carry that on because it will be a tough season for him.”
Kane really worked hard to make a difference for Tottenham in big games last season, but he’s facing a big challenge in terms of consistency.
He needs to show that he can have one 20 goal plus season to the next, dealing with the different difficulties he’s presented with in terms of the way sides look to stop him.
A worry for Tottenham will be that he’s not really had a rest yet from last season, as he went on a post-season tour with the club and is about to participate in the under-21 European Championship with England.
His time off will have to come after the tournament, which will put him behind other Tottenham players when he returns for pre-season, which ultimately risks him missing the start of the next season.
