Martin Odegaard comments
Deila and Odegaard were spotted watching their former club Stromsgodset play Lillestrom at their Marienlyst home earlier this month.
It was reported by The Sun at the time that the duo had “chatted” with each other, with the British tabloid claiming that the Celtic boss wants to sign his Norwegian compatriot on loan from Madrid in the summer transfer window.
It was also claimed that Odegaard's father and advisor Hans was at the game which Stromsgodset won 2-0.
Odegaard has now admitted that he did speak with Deila, but he has insisted that the conversation they had had nothing to do with a potential move to Celtic this summer.
"It’s quite natural we do when we meet. No, he didn’t (try to convince me to join Celtic). Yes, it (move to Celtic) is (speculation).”
Odegaard moved to Spanish giants Madrid from Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset in the January transfer window.
The 16-year-old attacking midfielder is rated as one of the best young players in the world and is claimed to have a bright future.
Already a full Norway international, the teenager made his first-team debut for Madrid against Getafe on the final weekend of the recently concluded 2014-15 La Liga campaign, becoming the club’s youngest ever debutant for Los Blancos in the process.
Emilio Izaguirre’s Champions League boost
Pinto has excluded the 29-year-old left-back from his squad in order for him to play for his club Celtic in the Champions League qualifiers.
“Emilio Izaguirre will not be included in the Gold Cup squad following a request from his club Celtic to our Federation,” The Daily Express quotes Pinto as saying.
