Video: Tom Carroll nets superb strike in England Under-21 training, the future for Spurs?

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder continues to impress...

As if it wasn't enough that Tom Carroll was impressing during matches for the England Under-21s, the Tottenham midfielder is now stealing the limelight during training sessions.

Indeed, as can be seen in the above video, Carroll netted a superb top-corner strike in international training on Wednesday afternoon - something Tottenham's players didn't do enough of last season. And Carroll's continual development this summer raises the question of whether he can be a serious contributor for Spurs next campaign.

All the talk was of Alex Pritchard and Dele Alli last term but 23-year-old Carroll, on loan gaining Premier League experience with Swansea City over the last few months, could well trump them both - as well as plenty of others.

The Tottenham midfielder shone during their friendly win over a Malaysia XI earlier this summer and he looks set to star for the England Under-21s during their European Championship finals. The tournament also offers him a unique opportunity to build a rapport with Harry Kane, something he already looks like he is doing.

With that and more (including the ability to strike the ball as sweetly as he has above) working to his advantage, then, Carroll could well be the future for Spurs.
