Tottenham man among six players Peter Lovenkrands wants Newcastle to sign

Lovenkrands wants Newcastle to sign QPR’s Austin, Cabaye, Tottenham's Andros Townsend, Manchester City's Richards, Aston Villa's Ron Vlaar and Redmond.

Peter Lovenkrands has taken to social networking site Twitter to list the players he would like Newcastle United to sign in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle have just appointed Steve McClaren as their new head coach, and one suspects that the Englishman will be strengthening the current squad.

Former Newcastle attacker Lovenkrands has made a list of players he would like the Magpies to recruit for the 2015-16 campaign.

Charlie Austin (Queens Park Rangers)

Austin was arguably the best player for Queens Park Rangers in the recently concluded 2014-15 campaign.

The English forward scored 18 goals and created 23 chances in 35 Premier League appearances, had a pass accuracy of 66% and a shot accuracy of 67%, and won 86 headers, 15 dribbles and 16 tackles.

Yohan Cabaye (Paris Saint-Germain)

Yohan Cabaye left Newcastle for French giants Paris Saint-Germain in January 2014, but he still remains a popular figure among the Magpies fans.

The France international midfielder was a success during his time at St. James’ Park and would fit right in.

However, leaving PSG for Newcastle would be a step back for the 29-year-old former Lille star.

Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur)

Andros Townsend has been on the books of Tottenham Hotspur his entire career, but the England international winger is not guaranteed playing time at White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old is an average footballer, and Newcastle should look to sign someone else if they have the chance to.

Micah Richards (Manchester City)

Micah Richards is on the books of Premier League giants Manchester City at the moment, but his current contract will run out at the end of the month.

The English right-back would be a good addition to the current Newcastle squad, especially as he would cost no transfer fee.

Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa)

Ron Vlaar is one of the better defenders in the Premier League and is out of contract at Aston Villa at the end of the month.

However, the Netherlands international centre-back will probably have the chance to move to a bigger and more ambitious club than Newcastle this summer.

Nathan Redmond (Norwich City)

Nathan Redmond played an important role in Norwich City gaining promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the 2014-15 season.

The 21-year-old English winger scored six goals and created 117 chances in 46 league matches.

Redmond had a pass accuracy of 80% and a shot accuracy of 51%, and won 10 headers, 109 dribbles and 35 tackles.
