West Ham are planning a big summer in the transfer market thanks to the arrival of head coach Slaven Bilic, and a report in the Telegraph has claimed that they have already highlighted the next target they want to sign.
He has been watched by West Ham scouts a couple of times this season, as per the report, and they have been suitably impressed in him.
Payed moved to Marseille in the summer of 2013, and has gone on to establish himself as one of the key creative forces in their side. In the 2014/15 season, Payet played 38 games, scoring seven goals and registering an impressive 21 assists.
Although able to play on both wings, the seven-capped international spent most of the campaign playing through the centre, providing both a creative and goalscoring threat on a consistent basis.
The Hammers are looking to progress in the Premier League, and the need to add firepower is very evident, with Diafra Sakho the only real attacking force last term. Payet would bring a new look offensive aspect to their play, and signing him would be a real statement of intent from the Hammers.
There are no indications as to a fee that the East London club would have to pay, although considering his impressive season, and the fact he still has two years left on his contract, it is likely that West Ham will have to part with a large portion of their transfer budget to secure his signing.
