The paper report the Baggies have made an enquiry over Habibou with his current side Rennes, although are yet to make a bid.
Habibou had a disastrous spell at Elland Road in 2013, signed mid-season by Neil Warnock, and went onto make only one start and three substitute appearances, failing to score.
Brought in as a loan replacement for fan favourite Luciano Becchio, Habibou did not even get close to emulating the prolific Argentine and it was no surprise Leeds decided against a permanent deal.
The 28-year-old went onto sign with Belgian side Gent, before switching to French club Rennes who paid £2.2 million for his services, and has a contract until 2017.
He struggled for goals last season, netting four goals in 34 games in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side, and he would be a gamble for West Brom boss Tony Pulis, who at this stage appears to be simply exploring his options.
West Brom will be keen to hold onto prolific England under-21 striker Saido Berahino this summer, especially as he was the only player to reach double figures for the club last season. Habibou however may not be the answer they are looking for, to either replace or play alongside the youngster.
