Report: Celtic 'determined' to sign Martin Odegaard, Deila hopeful of sealing reunion

Celtic are reportedly pushing to sign Real Madrid teenager Martin Odegaard.

According to AS, Celtic are 'determined' to land Real Madrid youngster Martin Odegaard - and Ronny Deila is hoping that his relationship with the player and his family will help lure him to Glasgow.

The Bhoys are looking for new signings this summer as they gear up for the Champions League qualifiers this summer, with manager Deila keen to build on a strong first season in Glasgow.

The Norwegian claimed the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish League Cup trophy in his debut campaign at Celtic Park, but will be looking for more next term once he has made new signings this summer.

One of his targets appears to be Real Madrid starlet Odegaard, who Deila managed at former club Stromsgodset - even handing the teenager his professional debut at the age of just 15.

Since then, Odegaard has not only gone on to sign for Real Madrid but also notch five caps for the senior Norway side, demonstrating his immense potential.

Having made his Real Madrid first team debut last month, Odegaard is now available for loan according to AS - and they believe Celtic are determined to sign him on a season-long loan deal.

The report states that Deila is keen to bring Odegaard to Celtic ahead of the Champions League ties, and believes that his relationship with the player and his family should help him tie up a deal.

Odegaard is certainly an exciting target for Celtic, and whilst the Deila factor may come in to play as he chases a reunion, Real Madrid may want him to stay in Spain instead, joining another La Liga club on loan rather than send him to Scotland.
