Report: Bolton Wanderers set to beat Nottingham Forest to signing of Manchester United goalie Ben Amos

The Trotters are set to bring back Amos, who spent time on loan at the Macron Stadium last season.

Bolton Wanderers are just one of several clubs in the Championship who are chasing a new goalkeeper this summer.

Reading and Birmingham City have lost their first choice stoppers whilst Bolton have lost Adam Bogdan. The Hungarian, out of contract this summer, is all set to join Liverpool as their new number two for next season.

Nottingham Forest also need a new keeper, as they have lost Karl Darlow, who will finally start his Newcastle United career this season.

It seems that both Bolton and Forest were interested in snapping up a free agent in the form of Manchester United stopper Ben Amos.

The 25-year-old was included on the Manchester United released list yesterday and will become a free agent this summer.

The former England under-21 international was, according to the Bolton News, a target for both Bolton and Forest this summer. However, it is Bolton that seem to have won the race fir his signature.

Amos, who has also spent time out on loan at Molde, Oldham Athletic and Hull City, spent February to April on loan at the Macron Stadium last season and clearly impressed whilst there.

He is set to become the Bolton number one after the departure of Bogdan and fellow custodian Andy Lonergan at the end of this month.
