One year after Iago Falque's exit, Tottenham allow Cristian Ceballos to leave

Tottenham have released Spanish winger Cristian Ceballos.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed on their official website that a number of players have left the club at the end of their contracts.

Goalkeeper Brad Friedel has retired and will be followed out of the exit door by fellow shot-stopper Jordan Archer, whilst centre back Bongani Khumalo and development squad players Aaron McEneff, Alex McQueen, Jonathan Miles and Lloyd Ross have also been released.

Yet, the most intriguing name on the list if that of Cristian Ceballos, with the 22-year-old Spaniard leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract at White Hart Lane.

Ceballos joined Spurs from Barcelona in 2011, and had been seen as one for the future having been schooled in the famous La Masia academy - but he leaves without having ever made his first-team debut for Spurs.

It's the second year in a row that Tottenham have moved on from an ex-Barcelona prodigy who had found life tough in North London, with Iago Falque being sold to Genoa last summer.

Since then, the left winger - the same position Ceballos plays in - has flourished in Italy, hitting 13 goals as he shows Tottenham what they're missing.

Now, Ceballos will be looking at his former team mate Falque and will be hoping to emulate his success with Genoa - and again prove Tottenham wrong for letting him go without ever having had a chance to shine with the club.
