22-year-old Malaga forward Juami has enjoyed an excellent season in La Liga, which hasn't gone unnoticed by keen eyes further afield, including those of scouts from Premier League side Newcastle United, who have regularly monitored his progress.
The Magpies now appear to be pursuing their interest further, as HITC Sport have been informed that currently on a trip to England, the agent of Juanmi has opened discussions over a possible summer move.
Malaga are resigned to losing one of their best prospects during the transfer window, given the release clause valuation of Juanmi is set at just €7 million (just over £5 million), which means Newcastle could land themselves a real bargain.
Having represented his country at junior levels since the Under-17's, Juanmi was handed his Spain debut by Vicente del Bosque, in the friendly at the Amsterdam Arena, against the Netherlands on 31st March 2015.
Able to operate on either flank, as a central attacking midfielder, or as a striker, Juanmi offers great positional versatility. With strong movement on and off the ball, he contributed 8 goals in 34 La Liga appearances, during the 2014-15 campaign.
The most memorable strike from Juanmi during the recently completed season, came with a cool finish at the Camp Nou, as Malaga secured a shock 0-1 victory away against Barcelona.
If they complete their move, Newcastle will of course be hoping that Juanmi can make the same kind of positive impact, which fellow Spanish compatriot Ayoze Perez made in the famous black and white shirt, following his signing from Tenerife last year.
