Chadli hopeful that Tottenham can secure deals for Benteke and Alderweireld

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nacer Chadli hopes his club can secure two positive signings before the start of next season.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nacer Chadli told Sky Sports that he’s hopeful Spurs can pull out all of the stops to sign two of his international teammates.

Chadli feels that striker Christian Benteke and defender Toby Alderweireld would be good additions for the squad, but has suggested that a move for the forward will be difficult because of the level of interest in him.

“I hope we get him but first they have to attract him and there are a lot of clubs that want him,” he said.

“Toby (Alderweireld) also because he’s a very good player. He did very well with Southampton – Hopefully that can happen.”

The Metro recently reported that Tottenham were one of the sides interested in Benteke and he’d be a positive addition alongside Harry Kane.

He’s arguably better than Kane in terms of being able to bully a defence and could complement the England man, whether they are playing together or whether the Belgian plays up front on his own.

However, as Chadli suggests, he’s got the Premier League experience, which will interest a lot of other clubs and it could be difficult for Tottenham to compete if a bidding war breaks out.

The Daily Express mentions Tottenham as one of the interested parties in Alderweireld, but it remains to be seen whether his parent club Atletico Madrid will entertain the idea of a permanent sale away from the club.

Tottenham have also already signed a centre back in the form of Kevin Wimmer, which arguably reduces the need for another defensive signing before the ex-Koln star has a chance to prove himself.

It looks like it’s going to be a long and exciting summer at White Hart Lane.
