The 50-year-old leaves the club after taking Newcastle from 11th position to 15th, winning just 12 points from 48 available.
Some will stay it wasn't nearly short enough, or should never have happened in the first place, and it will be hard to deny Carver's critics after the 50-year-old nearly got the Magpies relegated after winning just 3 of his 20 matches in charge.
But aside from some of the bizarre comments Carver came out with, here was nothing more than a Toon fan willing to do whatever he could to help out the club he loved, after Alan Pardew's departure.
Whether someone incapable of helping should offer their assistance is another matter entirely.
It's funny to think that before his recent spell in charge, the Newcastle native had a 100% win ratio at the club, following an earlier stint as caretake manager.
That stint could be attributed to a solitary 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in 2004, just after Sir Bobby Robson was dismissed.
As he and coach Steve Stone leave St James's Park, below we have compiled a series of comments regarding Carver's departure.
Just seen the great news, no more John Carver..— Solo (@SoloTheGent) June 9, 2015
An early fallen soldier. Even with a stunning 20% win ratio, poor John Carver couldn't hold onto the Newcastle job. pic.twitter.com/ujz4GdW380— Tom Cauvain (@TomCauvain) June 9, 2015
I think the best quote re: John Carver's tenure as Toon boss was by a #talksport caller, "I love my iPhone but I know I couldn't run Apple,"— Gary (@GaryAthey) June 9, 2015
John Carver sacked. Gotta feel sorry for the best coach in the premier league— Joe Jelley (@Jelley89) June 9, 2015
Mike Ashley clarifies that John Carver hasn't been sacked. He just wasn't guaranteed work under the terms of his zero hours contract #nufc— Ed Fondue (@newsfondue) June 9, 2015
Newcastle sacking John Carver as manager I understand but if he hasn't got a job at the club I find that distasteful.— Tony Walsh (@tonywal38) June 9, 2015
Honestly I think John Carver was one of the worst managers in premier league history @TrueGeordieNUFC— Alex (@Droohs) June 9, 2015
£1 million in compensation for John Carver. Not a bad day at the office, when all's said and done.— Andy Sixsmith (@SixsmithTV) June 9, 2015
It was the people who put John Carver in the 1at place should be to blame, he should have never been tasked with that— Chris (@BoringGeordie) June 9, 2015
