Newcastle star Daryl Janmaat tells Jordy Clasie to move to the Premier League

The Newcastle defender has told Southampton and Sunderland target Jordy Clasie to move to England.

Clasie has been linked with a move to Premier League duo Southampton and Sunderland, and Newcastle defender Janmaat has told SoccerNews that it seems to be the time for him to head to the Premier League.

The right-back said: “That challenge I needed, I longed for the Premier League. But you have to be ready for that step. This seems to be the time for him [Clasie] to make a move.”

The Dutch international teammates played together at Feyenoord prior to Janmaat’s move to England last summer, and this year it looks as if Clasie is set to follow him.

Whilst the right-back moved to Newcastle, Clasie - a technically gifted midfielder renowned for his vision and playmaking abilities - has been linked with a move to two of their Premier League rivals.

The Star reported on interest in Clasie from Southampton - with head coach Ronald Koeman coaching him at De Kuip - whilst Sunderland have also entered the race to sign him, as per SoccerNews.

Dick Advocaat is said to be a big fan of the 23-year-old, who has 11 caps for the Netherlands, and a transfer is expected to happen this summer.

With Janmaat’s advice, it appears as if Clasie will now push for a move, but it remains to be seen which club is set to be the beneficiaries of the Newcastle right-back’s words to Clasie.
