The Swedish international has had his say on the Norwegian sensation said to be attracting interest from Celtic.
According to a recent report from the Glasgow Evening Times, Celtic may reignite their interest in Norwegian teenager Martin Odegaard after his parent-club Real Madrid allegedly decided he could go out on loan next season.
Deila knows Odegaard well from his time as manager of Stromsgodset, where the midfielder made his name, and the 16-year-old would be a fine short-term addition to Celtic’s playing squad given his undeniable talent.
While Odegaard considers the potential next step in his fledgling career, one of the biggest and best players in the world has given him some advice.
Speaking to Aftonbladet in an interview later translated by A Bola, Paris Saint-Germain striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic said of the alleged Celtic target, “He has a father who controls it completely. He has to grow, to become a man and get rid of the father.
Speaking after Sweden and Norway’s clash earlier this week, Ibrahimovic said of Odegaard, “He did well, he played so simple and did not miss many balls. He has time to improve.”
Always outspoken it is no surprise Ibrahimovic was so forthright in his advice for the teenager, but whether he heeds it or not, next season could be a huge one for Odegaard if he makes the right call in terms of which club he plays for.
Given their alleged interest and the presence of Deila, a move to Celtic would serve him well.
