Report: West Ham United spoke to Harry Redknapp two weeks ago

West Ham United reportedly had Harry Redknapp as one of their candidates.

West Ham United spoke to former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp last month, according to The Mirror.

The Hammers are currently looking for a new manager following the departure of Sam Allardyce.

The former Newcastle United boss’s contract ran out at the end of the recently concluded 2014-15 season, and he was not given a new deal.

According to The Mirror, West Ham will decide on their new boss today with Slaven Bilic claimed to be the favourite.

It has now been reported that the London outfit spoke to Redknapp two weeks ago but they decided not to bring him back.

The 68-year-old has been in charge of West Ham before and is without a managerial job at the moment following his departure from Queens Park Rangers in February.

It is interesting that this revelation is only now emerging, and it makes sense that West Ham did not appoint Redknapp.

The Englishman is one of the most respected football managers, but he is not someone who can take the club to the next level.

West Ham need a young(er) manager with fresh ideas and whose football is pleasing to the eye.
