The 29-year-old has just one year left on his current deal and that has prompted the claims that either Gunners boss Arsene Wenger or Reds manager Brendan Rodgers could make a move if no new offer is forthcoming.
The player’s agent and father is quoted as telling Calciomercato that Marchisio is keen to remain in Turin but that it “takes two to make a marriage”.
Marchisio played a vital role in Juventus’s brilliant campaign, featuring 52 times and scoring three goals and providing 10 assists.
In total the player has featured 309 times for Juventus and it is likely to take an almighty effort from either Arsenal or Liverpool to tempt him to move on.
Things could change of course if no new contract offer is in the pipeline and the player sees a future away from the Serie A club. But that seems unlikely at this stage given his continuing importance – even if his side has recently strengthened with the addition of Sami Khedira from Real Madrid.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal need to sign new midfielders this summer but the same cannot be said for the Italian champions, who along with Paul Pogba and Arturo Vidal now have one of the best foursomes in Europe.
