Reported Leeds United target Alvaro Pereira is not yet on his way to Estudientes according to their club president.
Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Sebastian Veron has been speaking to Calciomercato.com about the prospect of Estudientes striker Guido Carrillo moving to Inter Milan this summer.
Veron is now the president of Argentine club Estudientes, where Pereira was on loan last season, and the former superstar said, “Carrillo is a great player. There is an official offer from Inter but I can only advise you to take a talent like that.
“We were talking with Roberto (Mancini) about Carrillo some time ago. I’ll wait to see what happens now.”
The latest report continues to mention Pereira as part of any potential deal, but until something is confirmed there remains a slight chance Leeds could still get their man.
In truth it was always unlikely that the Uruguay international would head to Elland Road, and that remains the case, but it is a measure of Leeds owner Massimo Cellino’s plans this season that the 29-year-old was even linked with the club in the first place.
Leeds could yet cause a few surprises in this summer’s transfer window, and even if Pereira does ultimately head to Argentina as part of the Carrillo deal Cellino could still be working on bringing a big-name star or two to the club in the months ahead.
Add them to the exciting young players coming through the ranks at Elland Road and there is no telling what the new campaign could bring.
