Talking to CN24, Jose Alberti said he did not think it was possible that Gonzalo Higuain would want to be at Napoli without Champions League football and that he expects him to become an Arsenal player.
On Saturday, the Mirror linked the Argentinian forward with a move to the Emirates yet again and going by Alberti’s comments, it wouldn’t surprise many people in Naples if such a switch was made.
When asked about the interest from English clubs in Higuain, the Argentinian said: “Mourinho didn’t play him, so I don’t think he would go to Chelsea.
‘’In my opinion, I’m 90% sure he will go to Arsenal. It could be a minimum of €5million.
‘’It is not possible that a player like him wants to remain at Napoli this year after missing out on the Champions League.’’
Would Higuain want to leave Napoli to join Arsenal?
The comment over whether Higuain would stay at Napoli after missing out on the Champions League is an interesting one.
Despite playing in what can be dubbed a ‘failing side’ following their league and cup disappointments, the 27-year-old has been in fantastic form throughout the season.
He has scored in every competition he has played in, which includes 18 goals in 37 Serie A matches, and has managed to accumulate almost 60 appearances throughout the campaign.
He has been let down largely due to his teammate’s poor form, and that could frustrate him as a season outside of the Champions League could harm his reputation.
A move to North London certainly seems like it would interest the former Real Madrid man, and Arsene Wenger will have few better options this summer.
