A player who has been strongly linked with Arsenal will definitely be leaving his current side this summer according to his representative.
The Colombian international has been heavily linked with Arsenal in recent times, with rival publication A Bola claiming just a few days ago that Jackson was in pole position to sign for the Gunners this summer.
And it seems the 28-year-old is indeed on the move, even if we do not yet know his destination.
According to his agent Luiz Henrique Pompeo, the player will soon be on his way and Porto will receive his full release-clause in the process.
“His (Jackson’s) departure from Porto will be a reality in the coming days,” Pompeo is quoted as saying. “Just details are missing.
“Porto will receive the full €35million of his release-clause. Jackson will continue at a top European club.”
It remains to be seen which club his agent is referring to, but if it does turn out to be Arsenal, the Gunners will be signing one of the most prolific front-men in world football.
In his club career to date Jackson has scored 149 goals in 230 appearances, with 32 of those coming in his most recent Primeira Liga campaign.
With Arsenal hoping to challenge both domestically and in Europe next season, Jackson would be the perfect addition – a player who knows what it is like to perform both in Europe and on the world stage and who has scored regularly at every club he has played for so far.
He may be 28, but he is also a deadly marksman, and Arsenal would be wise to make their move…if they haven’t already done so, that is.
