According to a report by France Football, Tottenham Hotspur have reached a €25m agreement with Monaco for 19-year-old striker Anthony Martial.
The France Under-21 international only joined the club last summer, but following 12 first-team goals during his debut campaign he has developed quite a bourgeoning reputation.
Hailing from the same academy as Thierry Henry, observers felt compelled to draw parallels but Martial previously told the UEFA website that the Arsenal legend has a completely different style to his own.
|Goals||Assists||Shots per Game||Key Passes per Game||Aerial Duels Won per Game||Take-ons per Game||Accurate Passes per GAME||Appearances|
As per the table above, the two strikers excel in certain areas of an attacker’s game but judging on last season’s performances Martial has some way to go before competing with the White Hart Lane favourite.
Kane’s magical campaign saw him net 21 Premier League goals with a further four assists, compared to the French youngster who netted nine times with three assists in Ligue 1.
Yet, aside from the goals and assists, Kane dominates in other areas such as the average number of shots on goal and aerial battles won per league encounter.
Furthermore, the England international is evidently more comfortable and effective with the ball at his feet, producing a higher number of key passes per match and sustaining a better pass success rate.
Nevertheless, Martial at 19 is still an extremely raw talent and for the reported price of €25 million, boss Mauricio Pochettino may be confident he has the capabilities to become the real deal.
Buying young players and realising their potential has brought immense success at White Hart Lane in the past and it’s looking increasingly likely they will be heading down that route again this summer.
