Tottenham Hotspur fans react on Twitter to Anthony Martial deal reports

Tottenham have been linked with signing Anthony Martial.

Tottenham Hotspur were last night linked with signing exciting striker Anthony Martial, with France Football claiming a deal was near to completion.

The French magazine reported Spurs and AS Monaco had reached an agreement at a price near to €25 million.

Martial is an outstanding prospect, featuring in the Champions League this past season for the Ligue 1 side, and impressing as both a central striker and when played on the left wing.

The reported fee sounds expensive for a 19-year-old, even one compared to Thierry Henry, but it remains unclear how much of that would be up front payment and how much would be made up of success-related clauses.

Martial is a French under-21 international who is regarded as one of the best players currently coming through his country's youth ranks.

For Tottenham he would be an alternative and compliment to Harry Kane in attack, with the club in need of reinforcements to relieve the pressure on the England international, with both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado ineffective this past season.

No deal is yet confirmed, but the reports have supporters excited, yet a little sceptical while confirmation is awaited from either club. Last month Italian website Tuttomercatoweb reported Spurs had agreed to sign Ezequiel Lavezzi from PSG, which has so far turned out not to be the case.

Here is a look at how Spurs fans reacted to the reports...
