Vlaar has yet to agree a new deal with Aston Villa.
The Dutch centre-back said: “I have in consideration [a new deal], I think about it. I want to maximize my career and think I can go a step higher. I will look at it [before deciding].”
These are certainly disappointing words for Villa fans to hear, with it sounding as if Vlaar is certainly keen on looking for a move away.
Despite major interest in Vlaar last summer, the 30-year-old centre-half has endured something of a poor campaign, lowering his reputation.
There are no confirmed offers for him except for the one from Villa, but it is likely that he will wait before committing his future to Tim Sherwood’s men.
There is still a month before his deal actually expires, and Villa are at least ahead of the game by already offering him a new deal, but as of today, the talented defender sounds very non-committal on whether to agree a new deal at Villa Park - placing his future with the Birmingham-based club in severe doubt.
