Everton want to sign Bertolacci, but face competition from Napoli.

The Toffees were linked with a move for Bertolacci last month, with TMW claiming that the Merseyside outfit were preparing an offer to sign him this summer.

A 24-year-old Italian international, the Genoa midfielder has impressed this term, scoring six goals ands registering eight assists in 34 games. He earned international recognition for his impressive performances, winning his first of two Italian caps in November.

Everton were looking to move for Bertolacci to provide a bit more attacking efficiency to a midfield lacking in creative output last season, and they are sure to retain in interest in him heading towards the start of next season.

However, they may now face competition from Serie A to sign the talented midfielder, with a new TMW report indicating that Naples want to sign him this summer, having been impressed by his strong league campaign.

There are no indications regarding which club Bertolacci would prefer to secure a move to, although testing himself out in the Premier League could be a welcome challenge, rather than remaining in Italy.

The report claims that he is ‘certain of his departure’ from Genoa this summer, and it looks as if Everton and Napoli are now fighting it out to sign a player who has shown real promise this past season.
