According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton defender Toby Alderweireld would 'jump at the chance' to sign for Tottenham - or even remain on the South Coast.
Aldereweireld, 26, found first team football hard to come by at Atletico Madrid last season, and joined Southampton on loan for the duration of the 2014/15 campaign after the Saints lost Dejan Lovren to Liverpool last summer.
The Belgian has proven himself as a top Premier League defender this term, producing consistently excellent displays under Ronald Koeman to help Southampton achieve qualification for next season's Europa League.
Now though, Alderweireld's future is hanging in the balance, with the centre back set to return to Atletico Madrid in the coming weeks - unless Southampton can engineer a permanent move.
The Daily Mirror now report that Alderweireld is desperate to either stay at Southampton or join their Premier League rivals Tottenham this summer.
Spurs may have already landed Koln star Kevin Wimmer this summer, but manager Mauricio Pochettino - formerly of Southampton - could yet make a move for Alderweireld in a bid to pair him up with international team-mate and former Ajax defensive partner Jan Vertonghen at White Hart Lane.
The report states that Alderweireld would 'jump at the chance' to either stay at Southampton or join Tottenham, such is his desire to remain in the Premier League - and a bidding war could now be sparked this summer.
