Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev isn't sure what the future holds for him.
Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev has told AS that he isn't sure where he will be playing next season amid speculation surrounding his future.
The Russian international, 24, joined Real at the age of 12, and has made his way up through the ranks - but has played just one first team game for the club.
Having been out on loan to Sevilla in the 2013/14 season, Cheryshev was farmed out again last summer, penning a season-long loan deal with Villarreal.
With nine assists and seven goals to his name for Villarreal, Cheryshev has enjoyed a superb spell at El Madrigal, proving his ability on a weekly basis.
Now, with Cheryshev set to return to the Santiago Bernabeu, reports from the Daily Mail have suggested that Liverpool could make a £15m bid to lure him to Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers needs reinforcements after a disappointing season on Merseyside, and after Cheryshev's displays for Villarreal, it's no surprise that the Reds are being linked with a move to sign the Russian wide man.
With the summer transfer window drawing ever closer, Cheryshev has told AS that he doesn't know what will happen regarding his future - but he would be open to staying at Villarreal, saying that the talk of a move to Liverpool is 'just speculation'.
"I have no idea as to what is going to happen, I’ve spoken to Marcelino and he confirmed that Villarreal hope to have my services next season but that’s all. I don’t know where I’ll be next season".
"If no ‘irresistible’ offer comes through, then my first option would be to stay with Villarreal. I’m convinced that in terms of professional set up and sporting ambition, this club is way ahead of many others."
"It's just speculation, no more no less. I know that if I stay with Villarreal, I’ll be extremely happy, as I have been to date," he added.
