Liverpool fought off interest from Tottenham Hotspur to sign Burnley’s Danny Ings.

The official Liverpool website confirmed that the Reds have agreed a deal with sign Danny Ings, subject to a medical, when his Burnley contract expires this summer.

The 22-year-old was one of the most promising youngsters in the Premier League last season, netting 11 goals in 35 Premier League fixtures, despite playing in a side with little attacking threat.

He was vital as the Clarets won promotion the season before last, and it was always likely that he would leave the club this summer, with his contract expiring.

Liverpool fought off interest from Tottenham Hotspur to sign Ings, with Spurs submitting a £12 million bid for the English Under-21 forward at the beginning of this month, as per Sky Sports.

However, he only had eyes for a move to Anfield, and Ings will be looking to make his mark on Merseyside next season, fixing Liverpool’s striking woes that have characterised their campaign.

Despite his impressive campaign, and his youthful talent, Ings is not the marquee signing many wanted at Anfield, and fans responded on Twitter in a less than excited manner when news of the deal broke earlier today.
