The 22-year-old was one of the most promising youngsters in the Premier League last season, netting 11 goals in 35 Premier League fixtures, despite playing in a side with little attacking threat.
He was vital as the Clarets won promotion the season before last, and it was always likely that he would leave the club this summer, with his contract expiring.
Liverpool fought off interest from Tottenham Hotspur to sign Ings, with Spurs submitting a £12 million bid for the English Under-21 forward at the beginning of this month, as per Sky Sports.
However, he only had eyes for a move to Anfield, and Ings will be looking to make his mark on Merseyside next season, fixing Liverpool’s striking woes that have characterised their campaign.
Despite his impressive campaign, and his youthful talent, Ings is not the marquee signing many wanted at Anfield, and fans responded on Twitter in a less than excited manner when news of the deal broke earlier today.
Milner, Ings and Bogdan are very good signings on frees, but are they really good enough to get Liverpool into the top 4? Debateable #lfc— Anthony (@AnthonyL80) June 8, 2015
Am I the only Liverpool fan with mixed thoughts on Ings? One good season he's had! Remember when Beckford had one good season? #Pessimist— Craig Favager (@Fav1993) June 8, 2015
I rate Danny Ings highly but is he really good enough for a club as big as Liverpool? #LFC— Matthew Tebby (@TebbyLFC) June 8, 2015
