Match of the Day host Gary Lineker believes Danny Ings is a solid signing for Liverpool.
The former England striker took to Twitter to praise the potential of the youngster, who impressed for Burnley last season despite their relegation.
Liverpool announced a deal to sign Ings via their official website on Monday, subject to a medical.
Ings scored 11 goals for Burnley last season, and is just 22-years-old. Lineker believes he is a smart addition for the Reds.
Liverpool are doing much needed business, signing @IngsDanny . He's got bags of potential. Wish him well.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) June 8, 2015
Liverpool are in need of reinforcements up front after not a single one of their strikers reached double figures last season.
Daniel Sturridge's poor output was owing to injuries, but Fabio Borini, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert each blew their chances, and question marks remain over the futures of all three, considering Ings' arrival and the impending return of Divock Origi on loan from Lille.
Lineker's former club Tottenham were believed to have been rivalling Liverpool for the signature of Ings, with SkySports reporting an approach from them last month. He will sign for Liverpool as a free agent, but the Reds must pay Burnley a seven-figure fee as compensation as he is under 23.
