Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback has told the Northern Echo he feels the club has everything needed for him to reach his career targets at the club.
Colback is one of the few Newcastle players who can look back on last season and feel he was relatively consistent and it’s an encouraging statement that he’s in no doubt over the potential of the club moving forward.
“I still feel as though I can achieve everything I want to here. That was a huge reason why I signed - I saw it as a club with an awful lot of potential there. I want to be playing for a successful team, and a team that’s coming into St James’ Park and winning games,” he said.
Newcastle definitely have the infrastructure and feel of a club that can move forward and consolidate in the Premier League, but the club’s board need to get a number of decisions right over the summer.
The club has to make sure that the manager for next season, most likely Steve McClaren, is the right person for the job and is given enough time to make any changes he feels are needed heading into pre-season.
It’s also vital that the board backs the new manager in the transfer market, with some ambition showed in terms of the calibre of players Newcastle decide to go after.
An in form and entertaining Newcastle is what the fans want to see and if the fans are happy and get right behind the team, St James’s Park will be a difficult ground for any club to visit next season.
A repeat of the struggles the club endured last season is something that everyone connected to the team should be determined to avoid.
