Manchester City youngster Jason Denayer made his first senior start for Belgium on Sunday, as Marc Wilmots’ side ran out 4-3 winners against France.
The 19-year-old centre-back is yet to feature for City’s first-team but he has had an outstanding campaign on loan at Celtic, where he featured 44 times and helped them to a league and cup double.
Such great form means he is unlikely to be heading out on loan again any time soon, with City set to give him chances alongside his countryman Vincent Kompany when the new campaign kicks off in August. But when that happens, Celtic fans will be forgiven for feeling sad that one of their key men this season could not stay for a little longer.
Denayer played 85 minutes of Belgium’s scintillating victory and he received plenty of praise at the final whistle for a composed performance that showed just how far he has come in a short space of time.
After the match, we took to Twitter to see what Celtic fans thought of their former loanee’s latest performance and you can read a selection of what we found below:

Jason Denayer starts for Belgium, unlike what Guidetti said playing for Celtic means nothing in national sides.— Sam To (@thatgoddamnsam) June 7, 2015
