HITC Sport understands Brighton and Hove Albion are eyeing a move to sign former loan star Stephen Ward from Burnley.
HITC Sport understands Brighton and Hove Albion are ready to try and lure Stephen Ward back to the club from Burnley as they look to bolster their squad.
Ward came close to joining Brighton last summer only for the deal to be hijacked by Burnley with the lure of the Premier League too good to turn down for Ward.
The left-back enjoyed a successful season on loan at Brighton from Wolves during the 2013-14 campaign, with Ward making 47 appearances as Brighton reached the play-off semi-finals.
Ward was due to turn his loan move into a permanent deal, but Burnley swooped in to steal the Republic of Ireland international from under the noses of Brighton.
The 29-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Burnley side since his arrival, making just 10 appearances in all competitions last season.
Brighton boss Chris Hughton is thought to be an admirer of Ward and is ready to test Burnley's resolve to hang onto the Irishman this summer.
